cannes film festival: first names

nothing's official yet, but some films will sure be screened at this year's cannes film festival (may 17-28) in france: sofia coppola's period film marie-antoinette (starring kirsten dunst and jason schwartzman), pedro almodóvar's volver (starring penélope cruz), 2002 cannes grand prize of the jury winner aki kaurismaki's the lights in the dusk, and paris, je t'aime directed by 20 directors among which the coen brothers, tom tykwer, wes craven, gérard depardieu, gus van sant, and starring steve buscemi, nick nolte, bob hoskins, natalie portman, willem dafoe, and juliette binoche.
ron howard's the da vinci code (starring tom hanks and audrey tautou) will open the 59th cannes film festival.
