denzel washington is drug smuggler in ridley scott film

denzel washington is back. american gangster will get filmed. the actor has been pushing the film, and now russell crowe has joined the cast, and ridley scott will direct the film.
american gangster is set in the 70's and tells the story of a drug boss, smuggling heroin into harlem by hiding the drugs inside the body bags of american soldiers returning from vietnam.
originally, the film would be made in 2004, starring washington and benicio del toro, and directed by antoine fuqua. but universal pictures halted the film over budget problems.
