eija-liisa ahtila wins artes mundi prize

yesterday, finnish artist eija-liisa ahtila won the biennial artes mundi prize, worth $ 70,000, making it one of the biggest art prizes in the world (turner prize = $ 45,000). ahtila (born in 1959) makes films and photographs, telling stories about human relations and the strong emotions involved.
the other artists on the shortlist were thomas demand, dias & riedweg, leandro erlich, subodh gupta, sue williams and wu chi-tsung.
