festen comes to new york
the theater version of danish modern film classic festen (american title: the celebration) is ready to hit broadway. director rufus norris adapted the dogme film to a play, and directed it in 2004 on london's west end. now the succesful play comes to new york. buy your tickets here. first performance: april 4th.
festen, the film, is directed by thomas vinterberg in 1998. it was the first film using the dogma 95 rules. festen won the cannes golden palm and jury prize in 1998 (and a lot of other awards). vinterberg also made a theater version of his film, but he's also very satisfied with norris' version.
